4 out of 5 stars Great camera for its price.   March 1, 2010
E. Krinker (Germantown, md United States)
I own Nikon DSLR and yes S230 camera won't produce as nice of a quality pics as my DSLR, but my DSLR won't fit in my pocket and much more expensive. So I got this camera to take quick pics when I go out and when I don't want to take my expensive camera since I am paranoid about damaging it. Also S230 has ability to take videos up to 30 min. Great thing in my opinion. About grainy pictures - yes, they will be grainy if you are shooting in a poorly lit room since camera adjusts its ISO way up. Guess what my DSLR would do exact same thing if I were to crank my ISO to 1600, but I don't do it and I use flash and longer exposure to produce better looking pics. Exact same thing can be achieved with this camera if you were to take a picture with a night portrait mode. Try it before criticizing the camera and like others said, please read the manual.

2 out of 5 stars Picture Quality Surprise   February 27, 2010
Lori Pitsas
I got this Camera for my birthday back in October and was exited to get to use it. But shortly after I opened it, I was a little discouraged. The picture quality was not good at all. Most of the time it would be "grainy" or quite blurry. And even if the picture looked good on the big touch screen, once I put them onto my laptop the quality became even worse. The indoor quality was the worse of all the settings (which is where I use it the most), but the only upside was it did wonderful in natural, bright light.
Overall as my second point-and-shoot camera, I was unsatisfied.

5 out of 5 stars Skeptical.......   February 19, 2010

At first after reading some of the horrible reviews i was skeptical about getting this camera. I ordered it anyway and it got here very fast (2 days). As soon as i got it i put in the battery and started taking pictures...they were grainy! So i read the manual and put it on an automatic scene mode that picks the best scene mode for your current picture. Problem solved! I downloaded pictures onto my computer and the pictures looked even clearer.i love this camera i would say buy it!
